Fun Food Friday - Flower Power

Well, we're back from BC. Enjoyed two weeks in Vancouver and Victoria. Lots of visiting and exploring. It feels weird being the 'tourist' in the place I used to call home. It went by like a flash, and I've got over 700 photos to plug through before I can blog about it! So...in the meantime...I will post this quick one now that we're home and have resumed Fun Food Friday! Marissa loved this one...

I had a jar of mandarin oranges in the fridge that I used to make the sun and Marissa said something about them being fizzy in her mouth. Okay...weird. So yesterday I was doing something in the kitchen and she brought the jar out of the fridge and asked if she could have some. With my OK, she started scooping some out and said, "Mommy taste them, they're fizzy!" so I did and fizzy was right. Apparently they'd been in the fridge too long and had past their prime...OOPS! Nicely done Tasha, feed your kid spoiled food. I grabbed the jar and dumped them in the garburator much to Marissa's dismay, she thought the fizzy was pretty cool. I think I'll go through the fridge and hunt down any other possible surprises!

Fun Food Friday

So I came across this great idea on one of the blogs I follow (Meet the Dubiens) and decided it would be a fun thing to do for Marissa's supper on Friday nights! It's worth taking a few extra minutes to put something special together and her reaction is so worth it. A new little ritual that she can look forward to every week. I like that. It's only the second Friday I've done it, but between last week and today she's mentioned the 'fun supper' thing a few times.

Week 1 - Over the Rainbow

Week 2 - Under the Sea

I think having rituals, traditions, whatever you want to call them...is a good thing. Little magical moments. Moments your kids will remember and talk about. However small or simple they seem, I think rituals can bring a family together. Take an everyday activity and give it a boost, a special twist, a unique spin. I want to do more of that in our house. Inject some fun into our family life that will inevitably create great memories.

Happy Friday!
