Fun Food Friday - Joy to the World!

Love how this one turned out!

No surprise that Marissa ate the candy first, but she did eat up all the rest too. Hey, it's Fun Food Friday, who says you can't have dessert first?!

Fun Food Friday - Elf

This one didn't turn out quite as cute as I hoped, I think the ears are a bit too big! But Marissa had no complaints...

Fun Food Friday - Monster Madness

Hanging onto a Halloween theme for one more Fun Food Friday. This one-eyed monster didn't fare well. Down the hatch he went into Marissa's hungry tummy!

Fun Food Friday - Follow the Yellow Brick Road

Not entirely pleased with how this one looks, but I threw it together very last minute when I realized late in the afternoon..."OH crap, it's Friday!"

Enjoy the weekend!

Fun Food Friday - Spiderific!

Getting into the Halloween spirit around here, so I decided to try spiders for this week's Fun Food Friday. Happy to report that Marissa ate it all up!

Happy Friday to you!

Fun Food Friday - Gobble Gobble

In the spirit of Thanksgiving weekend, this week's Fun Food Friday was a turkey! Along with a side of blueberries and vanilla yogurt with fall sprinkles. Marissa 'gobbled' this one down :-)

Fun Food Friday - Beautiful Fall Day

I'm not entirely sad that it's looking and feeling more and more like fall outside. Yes, I know it means the cold and snow will soon follow. But for now, as the leaves change colour and start to fall to the ground, it's very beautiful. Soon there will be big piles of leaves for kids to jump on and play in. How fun. And so, tonight's supper was a bit of Fall fun...

Fun Food Friday

Double header today, I forgot to post last week's fun food. I went with animals the past two Fridays, last week was a lion, and this week a pig. I don't know who enjoys them more, me making them or Marissa with her anticipation and happily gobbling down the whole meal. I think I'd agree that we enjoy this tradition equally!

Fun Food Friday - Crazy for Caterpillars

Seriously?! This one rocks. Marissa was pretty giddy as I assembled the caterpillar (she wanted to wait for the surprise but kept getting too excited and taking little peeks). This one did take a little extra time, but the end result was so worth it! She ate every scrap, all but a few of the crackers. But she did lick the peanut butter clean off them all, girl got in her protein :-)

Happy Friday to you! And to Jill Dubien for inspiring me to adopt her Fun Food Fridays!

Fun Food Friday - Flower Power

Well, we're back from BC. Enjoyed two weeks in Vancouver and Victoria. Lots of visiting and exploring. It feels weird being the 'tourist' in the place I used to call home. It went by like a flash, and I've got over 700 photos to plug through before I can blog about it! So...in the meantime...I will post this quick one now that we're home and have resumed Fun Food Friday! Marissa loved this one...

I had a jar of mandarin oranges in the fridge that I used to make the sun and Marissa said something about them being fizzy in her mouth. Okay...weird. So yesterday I was doing something in the kitchen and she brought the jar out of the fridge and asked if she could have some. With my OK, she started scooping some out and said, "Mommy taste them, they're fizzy!" so I did and fizzy was right. Apparently they'd been in the fridge too long and had past their prime...OOPS! Nicely done Tasha, feed your kid spoiled food. I grabbed the jar and dumped them in the garburator much to Marissa's dismay, she thought the fizzy was pretty cool. I think I'll go through the fridge and hunt down any other possible surprises!

Fun Food Friday

So I came across this great idea on one of the blogs I follow (Meet the Dubiens) and decided it would be a fun thing to do for Marissa's supper on Friday nights! It's worth taking a few extra minutes to put something special together and her reaction is so worth it. A new little ritual that she can look forward to every week. I like that. It's only the second Friday I've done it, but between last week and today she's mentioned the 'fun supper' thing a few times.

Week 1 - Over the Rainbow

Week 2 - Under the Sea

I think having rituals, traditions, whatever you want to call them...is a good thing. Little magical moments. Moments your kids will remember and talk about. However small or simple they seem, I think rituals can bring a family together. Take an everyday activity and give it a boost, a special twist, a unique spin. I want to do more of that in our house. Inject some fun into our family life that will inevitably create great memories.

Happy Friday!
